Workshop Details

The nature reserves and remote locations in which I run these sessions host a stunning variety of woodlands, mountains, coast, and lochs. The sessions are completely tailored to your needs and as such are open to all levels of photographers, all the way from beginner to advanced.

The workshops will begin with a short walk to situate ourselves before delving in to the practice of photography, composition, image critiques, and more. Throughout the day we will be focused on the art of photography & developing personal expression through a contemplative creative process. I will aim to help you make your own intimate connections with nature as well as further your own photographic goals. Technical advice on the craft of photography will be provided throughout the workshop; any number of subjects can be covered from beginner camera functions to advanced techniques like focus stacking.

These sessions are designed with the understanding that each photographer must find their own path. They are intended to open a conservation and encourage self-reflection. An emphasis will be placed on (self-)critique: what in the landscape interests you and why? What is your creative process? Why is your creative process the way it is? How does your process influence the final result? Why are you using your chosen medium? What idea is your work alluding to and how could your process better capture that idea? How can your creative process and technical skills tell the story of this place?

If you would like to get a sense of how I teach, you can watch me in the field on my youtube channel.

Fees are inclusive of transportation during the workshop, but participants are responsible for travel to and from the agreed meeting point; accommodation, food, and insurance are not included.

Who am I?

Murray is a landscape photographer offering fine art prints and on-location workshops. He is based in the United Kingdom with a Masters degree in Architecture. Murray was born in South Africa and has lived on 4 continents; appreciating nature is at the core of his approach to practicing and teaching photography. Murray believes in developing a conversation between nature and the photographer through careful observation and learning. Landscape and nature photography is his way of connecting with wilderness all over our planet, and to give back. With the goal of being carbon-negative, your support via prints and workshops helps to plant trees via OneTreePlanted.

His photographs seek to express what makes a particular area unique. Murray’s work is predominantly black and white, but he lets his encounters with the natural environment dictate the end result. Currently, he is living in a self-built campervan travelling the UK for photography.

By signing up to this workshop you agree to the standard Terms & Conditions.
