Zine Workshop with Brie Stockwell

Gain the confidence to pursue your passion project.

This online course is designed to help you develop the skills and creative voice needed to produce a unique photography zine.

This is a project-based course that takes you through every step of how to make a photography zine from idea to print.

You will follow a series of online tutorials over 4 weeks before meeting with Murray, Brie, and fellow photographers virtually to discuss essential content and design ideas, inspire one another through meaningful conversations, and gain insightful critique on your project. Over the course of the workshop, you will undertake short assignments to aid in the production of your photographic zine and receive feedback on your work. You may work with a selection of existing images, or develop a new series as part of this course.

Who is this course for?

Photographers interested in curating a small body of work into a thoughtful, cohesive, physical printed product. We welcome all experience levels! Photographers, from novices to seasoned veterans, can expect to come away with new knowledge and insights. You’ll also gain access to an exclusive discount code to have your zine printed at one of the best printers in the UK (international shipping available)!

The course is designed with four key goals in mind:

  • Walk away with a beautifully designed photo zine that is ready to send to the printers (and hopefully a proof copy in-hand!)

  • Learn about project curation and gain the technical proficiency needed to produce a high quality printed document

  • Dedicated time to focus on a photography project

  • Connect and collaborate with other passionate photographers

About Us

Murray Livingston has a background in Architecture where critique was an essential weekly tool used to move forward with our work. He would often lead sessions with undergraduate students to assess their work. In addition to this, Murray is an accomplished photographer with images published in numerous magazines as well as self-publishing multiple zines and a new softcover book, Machair.

Brie Stockwell (click here to view her work) has worked for many years as a mentor, guiding clients on their creative journey and inspiring confidence through positive reinforcement and constructive criticism. Her photographic work explores the more subtle beauty found across the US, often working in desert environments and soft light. During a photography critique, you will learn both positives and negatives, key take-aways, overarching themes, areas to improve on, in the field and/or editing techniques, and how to apply them to your project.

There’s just nothing like the feeling of seeing your work in print.
I love having a way to show my images to people that’s easy & handheld.
It’s easily repeatable and you’ll find out how easy creating a zine actually is.

We’re committed to producing high-quality experiences. This workshop is a combination of recorded tutorials (self-directed on your own time) as well as virtual group sessions. Online sessions bring potentially unique challenges, such as varied internet speeds, traffic on servers, and the performance of each participant’s hardware. We’ll do our best to support the ideal experience for each participant. In the unfortunate event that you miss a session, you’ll also receive a recording so you can watch back at a later date.

Payment is due in full to reserve your place. Refunds are only available 6 weeks prior to the commencement date. All refund requests must be submitted via email to [email protected]. Note: it may be possible to transfer your registration and payment to a future workshop.
