Quiver Tree (Kokerboom) Fine Art Prints
I had been keen to visit the Quiver Tree Forest in South Africa for many years and finally my schedule aligned with a rare availability to stay on the private farm in March of 2024. I spent 3 days exploring and photographing the vast forest of aloes (not trees); the forest is the largest in the southern hemisphere, comprising of thousands of specimens of Aloidendron dichotomum. Quiver Trees are unique in a number of ways, not the least because they have the special ability to sacrifice one of their limbs in order to survive drought. The harsh landscape is littered with these rather strange dried amputated branches. During my stay I had vibrant sunrises and sunsets, intense heat, and beautiful moonlight. Hopefully I will be able to return in the not so distant future to explore further and make more photographs of these otherworldly plants.
Below you will find a collection of the images I made during this brief visit, organised as a series of diptychs. To purchase prints, click on your selected image. Each pigment ink black and white print is made using only the highest quality materials including Fine Art Acrylic, Canson and Hahnemulhe Fine Art Paper, and Aluminium Metal.
