Rain Over Suilven, Assynt (2023)

from £125.00

I waited on this small unnamed hill for quite some time, with flat lighting and clouds all around me, but I knew these rocks and the stunning mountains of Assynt would make for a brilliant image. It was fast approaching sunset when, finally, a gap to the west opened up illuminating an incoming rain storm and bouncing some lovely warm reflected light onto the foreground sandstone boulders. It was quite a tricky spot to compose in; I was determined to work the contours of the landscape to obscure some small man made elements in the valley to the right of scene. This final composition only appeared to me when the rain and light happened at the very last minute!

Acrylic Fine Art Prints

These landscape photographs are printed on gallery-grade fine art Ilford paper and then mounted to a 3 mm (1/8 in) Di-bond composite plate made of two aluminium layers and a polyethylene core. They are subsequently placed behind matte acrylic which reduces glare and reflections in order to provide the very best viewing experience even in tricky lighting scenarios. The Ilford paper brings deep contrast, neutral greys, fade protection, high fidelity, and continuous tones with extraordinary depth. They are very lightweight and provide reliable stability ensuring no warping or bubbling of the prints. They come with preinstalled hanging hardware regardless of the format or size. The materials and mounting techniques used make for excellent archival qualities.

Fine Art Paper Prints

While only available in smaller sizes, this is my favourite way to display my work. These black and white prints are made using heavyweight Canson and Hahnemulhe fine art papers, renowned as some of the highest quality papers worldwide. I only use papers which are 100% cotton, acid and OBA free, incredibly detailed, and achieve very high levels of D-max. The fine art papers reveal a beautiful yet subtle texture with a lustre finish that provides depth and a 3D feel akin to that of traditional wet black and white prints. Fine art paper prints are shipped in a tube ready to go directly to your framer of choice.
